SpanishPod101 and CBC – Walkthrough
Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101 and Conversation Based Chunking
To learn Spanish, you need to absorb Spanish chunks native speakers use. And to do that, you need access to tons of Spanish input.
SpanishPod101 provides that input. In this guide, you’ll learn how to make the most out of it.
¡Empecemos! (Let’s get started!)
Step 1
Sign up for a free SpanishPod101 account
We’re going to use materials from SpanishPod101 to identify (and imprint) chunks. Before we get started, if you haven’t done so yet, sign up for a free account:
SpanishPod101 offers many free resources. They also offer paid memberships with even more resources, which I highly recommend if you like the free lessons; it makes learning Spanish and finding chunks much easier. (You can learn more about SpanishPod101 in this in-depth SpanishPod101 review I conducted a while ago.)
In fact, after signing up for your free account, you’ll be offered a $1 trial. It’s not necessary to sign up for a paid account to go through this walkthrough, you can just use the free materials to get started.
Once you’ve signed up, let’s get started!
As a linguist, my team and I spend considerable time reviewing platforms, not just superficially, but also to test them against the latest research in linguistics and teaching methodology, including compatibility with Conversation Based Chunking™. To support that work, we do earn a small commission whenever we recommend a language product. Learn more about our language product reviews’ process and policy.
Step 2
Imprint SpanishPod101 Chunks on your brain with these cloze card decks
Watch me use some Spanish lessons from SpanishPod101 to extract useful chunks, memorize them and use them in conversations.
Here’s how to imprint chunks from SpanishPod101 lessons on your brain so you can use them yourself in conversations:
- Choose a lesson: Start with a lesson that matches your current level of Spanish.
- Identify chunks: As you go through the lesson, identify phrases or “chunks” that native speakers use.
- Create cloze cards: Use Brainscape, Quizlet or Anki to create cloze cards with these chunks.

Step 3
Setting Up a Daily Habit
The key to effective learning is consistency. Set up a daily habit of reviewing the flashcards. Even just 5-10 minutes a day can make a significant difference over time.
Remember, the goal is not to memorize individual words and grammar rules, but to master the chunks that native speakers use every day.
With the endless SpanishPod101 resources, the right learning strategy, and a consistent daily habit, you’re well on your way to achieving Spanish fluency.
Step4
Want access to some pre-made SpanishPod101 flashcard decks and my book?
If you sign up for a paid SpanishPod101 plan through my link, (be it monthly, yearly, or a 2-year plan) and send me your receipt, I’m happy to give you access to some “starter flashcard decks” I’ve created based on SpanishPod101 beginner lessons.
These decks are designed to help you master Spanish chunks more effectively and give you a starting point to create your own flashcards with chunks.
Plus, as a bonus, I’ll also include a complimentary copy of my book, “Effortless Conversations”. This book introduces you to Conversation Based Chunking™ and provides a 12-week plan to make more progress in your Spanish learning journey than all of last year.
This offer is my way of saying thank you for supporting this website and joining me on this journey. I hope it helps you achieve your Spanish learning goals faster.
